Our two PG students have recently won the top awards in the papers competition in Structural and Materials Discipline of ICE, Hong Kong Association.
Two top awards, the Best Paper Award and the Merit Award, in Structural and Materials Discipline from the papers competition of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), UK, Hong Kong Association, were presented to commend our civil engineering students on 26 May 2007, upon their high level of competence in structural engineering research.
Suen Po-Chi received the Best Paper Award for her pioneer research on spandrel beams in tall buildings using steel fibre concrete for improving the post-cracking tensile strength and enhancing the shear capacity. Whereas Tsoi Hiu-Fung took the Merit Award for his innovative design improvement on the seismic performance and ductility of non-seismically designed reinforced concrete structural walls.
