In addition to the numerous university-wide scholarships and bursaries available to all HKUST students, we also offer a range of program-specific scholarships exclusively for students enrolled in our Civil and Environmental Engineering programs.

Professor Wilson Tang Memorial Fund 鄧漢中教授紀念基金

Professor Tang, an international leader in the field of engineering uncertainties and reliability analysis received his bachelor’s (1966) and master’s from MIT and his PhD (1969) from Stanford University. He taught at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for 27 years before joining HKUST as Chair professor and Head of Department of Civil Engineering in 1996 until 2001. He retired in 2009.

Established in 2013 to continue Professor Tang’s devotion to educating young minds, nurturing talents and promoting intellectual excellence.

Professor Wilson Tang

It consists of 4 scholarships:

 (i) Professor Wilson Tang Scholarship

For awarding outstanding first-year Engineering students choosing Civil & Environmental Engineering as their major program.

 

 (ii) Professor Wilson Tang Prize

For awarding the higher scored student in each of the following subjects:

  • Modeling Systems with Uncertainties. (Course code: CIVL2160); and
  • Engineering Risk, Reliability and Decision (Course code: CIVL5110).

 

 (iii) Professor Wilson Tang Bursary

For supporting students who are in need of financial assistance for their exchange programs.

 

 (iv) Professor Wilson Tang Engineering Scholarship

For students of the School of Engineering with outstanding academic performance.
