Prof. Hui Su Selected Global Fellow of Ewha Womans University
Prof. Hui SU, Professor of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, has been selected a 2023 Ewha Global Fellow of Ewha Womans University.
Founded in 1886, Ewha Womans University was the first university to be established in South Korea. It is now one of the world’s largest female educational institutes and the only university in Korea that has an exchange program with Harvard University. The Ewha Global Fellowship is awarded to distinguished scholars around the world to actively collaborate in research and education with Ewha faculty members.
Prof. Su obtained her bachelor’s degree from Peking University, before receiving her PhD from the University of Washington. She joined HKUST’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2022 and is now a Global STEM Professor at the Department. Before joining HKUST, she was a principal scientist and weather discipline program manager at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. She received the NASA Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal in 2010 and again in 2022, and a number of awards at JPL. She is an Editor of Geophysical Research Letter and a fellow of the American Meteorological Society. Her research interests are primarily in tropical convection and climate change.
