CIVL Students Receive Best Paper Awards at International Conference on Civil and Building Engineering Informatics (ICCBEI) 2023

PhD students Mr. Zhaoji Wu and Ms. Yuqing Xu, from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, supervised by Prof. Jack C.P. Cheng, have each received a Best Paper Award at the 5th International Conference on Civil and Building Engineering Informatics (ICCBEI 2023) for a respective paper that they are the first author of.

The two papers are “An Automatic Translation Framework based on Ontology to Building Energy Models” by Wu et al., and “A Blockchain-based Carbon Auditing Framework for Construction Material and Product Certification” by Xu et al. At ICCBEI 2023, there were 74 paper presentations in total with over 110 participants from more than ten countries and regions, but only five papers were selected by the conference committee for the Best Paper Awards.

The ICCBEI is a conference series organized by the Asian Group for Civil Engineering Informatics (AGCEI) once every two years. It is a sister conference of the International Conference on Computing in Civil and Building Engineering (ICCCBE), which has been organized for over 30 years. This year, ICCBEI 2023 was hosted by Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, on 19–22 July, 2023. (HKUST will host the next conference on 8–10 January, 2025.)

Congratulations to Mr. Wu, Ms. Xu, Prof. Cheng, as well as other co-authors of the papers for the honors!
