Professor Dan Tsang Leads HKWMA Spring Reception to Advance Sustainable Waste Management

Professor Dan Tsang, Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at HKUST and Chairman of the Hong Kong Waste Management Association (HKWMA), recently led the successful hosting of the HKWMA 2025 Spring Cocktail Reception. The event, held on 16 April 2025 at Craigengower Cricket Club, convened professionals, policymakers, practitioners and innovators to discuss advancements in sustainable waste management and green technologies.

Featured at the reception as the guest of honour was Dr. Vanessa Au, Deputy Director of the Environmental Protection Department, who shared valuable insights into Hong Kong’s environmental policies and initiatives. The reception provided a platform for meaningful dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders committed to environmental sustainability. Prof. Tsang’s dual role at HKUST and HKWMA underscores the University's commitment to addressing pressing environmental challenges through academic excellence and industry engagement, and the CIVL department continues to support initiatives that foster sustainable development and innovative solutions in sustainable waste management and net zero strategies in Hong Kong and the rest of the Greater Bay Area.
