CIVL Graduate Wins Best Final-Year Project Competition
Mr. LEUNG Tin Long, Cyrus, BEng graduate from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, has received the Grand Prize at the 2021-2022 Best Final Year Project Competition, organized by the Civil Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE).
The Best Final Year Project Competition aims to recognize civil engineering undergraduates who have completed outstanding final year projects that help promote and advance technologies and innovations in the civil engineering industry. The prize-giving ceremony was held on August 9 at the HKIE headquarters.
Cyrus’s final-year project, entitled “LiDAR data annotation platform for traffic monitoring”, was supervised by Prof. Yu-Hsing Wang. The project created a data annotation platform to support the development of AI models for LiDAR-based traffic monitoring. The platform improves the existing LiDAR annotation software by providing the ability to construct datasets for object tracking in addition to object detection. The speed and flow can be computed directly through modeling the path of each project with the datasets.
Congratulations to Cyrus, as well as Prof. Wang!
