Prof. Cheng and CIVL Alumni Win Gold Medal at International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva

Team AutoSafe, co-founded by Professor Jack Cheng and his former students, Mr. Issac Pak Him Leung and Dr. Peter Kok Yiu Wong, has won a gold medal at the 48th International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva (IEIG).

The team won gold with an innovative technology called “Vision-Based Monitoring of Construction Site for Worker Safety Protection”, a vision-based trajectory tracking and monitoring system which uses multi-camera coordination and AI to ensure that on-site workers wear necessary personal protective equipment at all times. The technology, featuring a real-time incident reporting system that alerts site management to any unsafe practices and behavior, can potentially revolutionize the construction industry’s approach to worker safety.

The annual International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva is currently the world’s most important event devoted exclusively to inventions, where hundreds of innovations and novelty products are debuted each time by the industries, academic institutions, independent inventors and researchers, as well as other private and state organizations. This year’s exhibition took place from 26 to 30 April.

Hats off to Team AutoSafe!
