Prof. Ilias Dimitrakopoulos Wins Stan Shaw Best Paper Award at ACMSM26

We are delighted to celebrate Prof. Ilias Dimitrakopoulos for winning the Stan Shaw Best Paper Award at the 26th Australasian Conference on the Mechanics of Structures and Materials. Prof. Dimitrakopoulos’s paper, titled “The effect of single and bimodulus material behavior on longitudinal compression failure of bamboo culms under flexure,” provides valuable insights into the behavior of bamboo as a construction material. The findings of the paper have practical implications for the design of sustainable and resilient structures, particularly in regions where bamboo is a prevalent construction material.

The Australasian Conference on the Mechanics of Structures and Materials has for over 56 years been a significant event for academics, practicing engineers, and researchers worldwide. The conference brings together international experts and leaders to share recent research findings in structural mechanics, engineering, and materials. The conference series has become a vital platform for promoting collaboration and advancing knowledge in the field.

Congratulations to Prof. Dimitrakopoulos.
