Prof. Gang Wang Awarded ASCE Greater China Distinguished Leadership Medal

Prof. Gang WANG was recently awarded the ASCE Greater China Distinguished Leadership Medal at the 2nd ASCE Greater China Conference held at Shenzhen University on 24 September 2023. This award was given in recognition of his significant contributions to the development of the ASCE Greater China Section and civil engineering profession in Greater China. Prof. Wang has been a leader in the ASCE Greater China Section for 14 years and has served as President in 2015–2016. He is currently the Student Chapter Committee Chair and has played a vital role in the establishment of the ASCE Greater China Section and ASCE Greater China Student Symposium.

In addition to his leadership role, Prof. Wang is an expert in geotechnical engineering research and education, having received numerous awards and recognitions for his work. He was also Co-Chair of the 1st ASCE Greater China Conference in 2021 and the 1st ASCE Greater China Student Symposium in May 2023.

The ASCE Greater China Section was established on November 5, 2019, building upon the strong foundation of the ASCE Hong Kong Section. The section aims to promote the advancement of civil engineering in Greater China, facilitate the exchange of knowledge and information among its members, and provide a platform for networking and professional development. It brings together engineers from various branches of civil engineering, including but not limited to structural, geotechnical, construction, environmental, materials, and water resources.
