Prof. Charles Wang Wai Ng Receives 2022 Fredlund Award from Canadian Geotechnical Society

Prof. Charles Wang Wai Ng has been awarded the 2022 Fredlund Award by the Canadian Geotechnical Society (CGS). The award recognizes the most highly cited articles published in the Canadian Geotechnical Journal (CGJ) over the previous five years. Prof. Ng’s paper, titled “Cyclic lateral response and failure mechanisms of semi-rigid pile in soft clay: centrifuge tests and numerical modelling,” was selected for its outstanding contribution to the field of geotechnical engineering.

The CGS is the leading organization for geotechnical engineering and related geoscience in Canada. With approximately 1,400 members across Canada and around the world, the CGS is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge and the creation of opportunities to exchange information among individuals from academia, consulting, government, industry, contractors, and various providers of geotechnical-related products and services.

The CGJ Fredlund Award was established by Canadian Science Publishing in 2018 to acknowledge exceptional research in geotechnical engineering. The citation count is based on data from Scopus and excludes author self-citations. One award has been given each year since 2018, and a paper can only receive the award once. The authors of the winning article receive a certificate in recognition of their achievement, presented to them by a CGJ Editor-in-Chief at the annual meeting of the Canadian Geotechnical Society.

Congratulations to Prof. Ng.
