CIVL PhD Student Wins HKUST RedBird Academic Excellence Award

Mr. Muhammad Waqar, CIVL PhD student supervised by Prof. Mohamed Ghidaoui, has received the HKUST RedBird Academic Excellence Award for current PhD students [1] (2021/22). The award aims to recognize outstanding academic performance and significant research capacity of HKUST PhD students. Each awardee receives HK$20,000 (per year, renewable).

Mr. Waqar’s research focuses on developing a fast and easy system capable of detecting defects such as leaks and blockages in pressurized freshwater pipelines using wave physics and signal processing techniques.
