CIVL PhD Student Receives Honorable Mentions in OpenBIM and NSFC-RGC Conference Awards

We wish to congratulate Mr. PAN Zaolin, PhD student in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering supervised by Prof. YU Yantao, for recently receiving honorable mentions from both the OpenBIM/OpenGIS Awards and the NSFC-RGC Conference’s best paper award.

Jointly organized by Hong Kong Alliance of Built Asset and Environment Information Management Associations and BuildingSMART Hong Kong, the OpenBIM/OpenGIS Awards recognize best practices in of using openBIM/openGIS in project delivery, lifecycle asset management, and research in the built asset industry. A particular focus of the awards is how innovatively and effectively projects make use of openBIM/openGIS to overcome interoperability challenges. Zaolin competed in the Student Research category of the awards.

The NSFC-RGC Conference on Frontiers of Industrial Big Data and Intelligent Systems (工业大数据与智能系统前沿会议), on the other hand, was jointly organized by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC, 国家自然科学基金委员会) and the Research Grants Council (RGC, 大學教育資助委員會) of Hong Kong, and was hosted by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University between 28 April and 1 May earlier this year. This joint effort between the NSFC and RGC aims to promote collaboration between researchers and teams from the Mainland and Hong Kong, allowing their strengths to complement each other. The theme of this year’s conference was “towards human-machine symbiotic industrial transformation”, and best paper awards were bestowed on the most exemplary papers submitted to the conference revolving around industrial big data and intelligent systems, including such topics as the internet of things (IoT), smart sensing, AI and robotics.
