CIVL PhD Graduate Offered Associate Professorship in Japan

Dr. Fan ZHU, who graduated in 2019 with a PhD from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Jidong Zhao, has been offered an Associate Professorship (tenured) by Kyoto University in Japan. Dr. Zhu has accepted the offer and will start duty in May 2022.

Dr. Zhu’s PhD dissertation was on the “Multiscale Modelling of Grain Crushing in Granular Media”. The Department is very proud of Dr. Zhu’s work, and we extend our best wishes to him as he embarks on a new chapter of his career.
