We wish to congratulate four students and researchers from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering on receiving best paper awards at the NSFC-RGC 2025 Conference: Frontiers of Digital Twins in Intelligent Manufacturing and Smart Cities (智能製造與智慧城市數字孿生前沿會議).

Mr. Zhenyu Liang, a PhD student supervised by Prof. Jack C.P. Cheng, won third prize of the best conference paper award, while Dr. Shanjing Zhou, a postdoctoral fellow also under Prof. Chengs supervision, received second prize of the best presentation award. Ms. Yirui Wang and Mr. Minshan Xie, MPhil students supervised by Prof. Yantao Yu, won first prize of the best application paper award and second prize of the best student paper award, respectively.

The NSFC-RGC Conference, jointly funded by the National Natural Science Foundation (NSFC, 國家自然科學基金委員會) and the Research Grants Council (RGC, 大學教育資助委員會), is a collaborative research initiative between the Mainland and Hong Kong that enables complementary strengths to drive innovation. The theme of this year’s conference, hosted by the University of Hong Kong from 25 to 28 April, was to highlight the growing importance of digital twin applications in intelligent manufacturing and smart cities through interdisciplinary research. The best paper/presentation awards were presented to the most outstanding submissions addressing digital twin technologies, covering diverse topics including artificial intelligence integration, human-robot collaboration, and ESG reporting and assurance.

Congratulations to all the prize winners!
