CIVL PhD Wins Excellent Presentation Award at Computational Mechanics of Granular Materials Workshop
Mr. YU Tao, a Hong Kong PhD Fellowship awardee and CIVL PhD student supervised by Prof. Jidong Zhao, has received an Excellent Presentation Award at the International Workshop on Computational Mechanics of Granular Materials for PhD Students. The workshop, held between May 19 and 20, 2022, was organized by Dalian University of Technology and Belarusian State University, with a view to providing a platform for scholars, researchers and specialists from the industry and academia to discuss the latest advancements and new trends in various areas related to computational mechanics of granular materials.
Mr. Yu’s presentation, entitled “Semi-coupled resolved CFD-DEM simulation of powder-based selective laser melting”, highlighted a novel semi-coupled resolved CFD-DEM approach for simulating powder-based selective laser melting (PB-SLM), an integrated approach capable of handling the powder layering and laser melting processes at the same time.
Congratulations to Mr. Yu!
