Late Prof. Wilson Tang Honoured again at ASCE OTC Hall of Fame 2014
Since its inception 1969, more than 10,000 papers have been published in Offshore Technology Conference (OTC). A few of these papers stand out, having provided the industry with innovation, direction and lasting impact on the design, construction or installation of the offshore infrastructure. The ASCE OTC Hall of Fame honours the authors of extraordinary papers presented in early years of OTC, which now form the core of current practice worldwide.
Once again Prof. Wilson Tang's OTC Paper 7196, "Case Study of Offshore Pile System Reliability", has been honoured at the ASCE OTC Hall of Fame Award this year. The celebration Gala took place on 6 May 2014 in Houston, TX during the Offshore Technology Conference, and was hosted by the ASCE Offshore Technology Technical Program Committee and the Hall of Fame Panel Judges.
Very few Hall of Fame authors are honoured more than once. Prof. Wilson Tang's paper "Performance reliability of offshore piles", presented in 1990, was recognized at the ASCE OTC Hall of Fame in 2013.
In 2002, Professor Tang was inducted into the US Offshore Energy Centre's Hall of Fame as a Technology Pioneer for his contribution in the development of Reliability-Based Design of Marine Structures.
