Faculty Positions in Smart City Development

In support of the University’s active development in inter-disciplinary research and education in the underpinning science and technology for the development of smart cities, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering seeks to recruit two faculty positions covering broad areas of smart mobility, smart living, smart environment, and smart economy. Specifically, we are seeking candidates with a strong background in infrastructural and environmental engineering and a particular focus on:
- Smart sensing and monitoring of civil infrastructure
- Smart construction and robotic prefabrication
- Sustainability
- Remote sensing and GIS
- Autonomous systems
The new faculty hires will be members of a new Center for GREAT (Green, Resilient, Empowering, Adaptable, and Transformative) Smart Cities. We invite applications for substantiation-track faculty positions at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank. Appointment at the Professor rank may also be considered for candidates with outstanding academic credentials and international recognition.
Applicants must have a PhD degree in civil engineering or a related discipline. The appointees are expected to demonstrate strong potential for effective teaching and promising research, as well as playing a key role in the development of projects in both fundamental and applied research.

Salary is highly competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including medical and dental benefits, annual leave and housing benefits will be provided where applicable. Initial appointment at Assistant/Associate Professor rank will normally be made on a 3-year contract, renewable subject to mutual agreement. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract. Appointment at Professor rank will be on substantive basis.
