CIVL PhD student won the Fulbright-RGC Research Scholar Award (2016-17)
Mr. Jing Yu, a PhD candidate supervised by Prof. Christopher Leung, has won the Fulbright-RGC Research Scholar Award (2016-17). He is the only awardee from HKUST among the 6 student recipients in Hong Kong this year.
Mr. Yu's research interests are sustainable high-performance cementitious materials, with particular focus on Pseudo-Ductile Cementitious Composites (PDCC). He will conduct research under the guidance of Prof. Victor C. Li at the University of Michigan for 6 months starting in September 2016.
The Fulbright awards program is the US Government’s flagship international educational exchange program. It supports PhD students in Hong Kong to conduct research on their dissertation at major American universities and research institutes for a period of six to ten months. The awards are funded by the Research Grants Council (RGC) in partnership with private donors.
