Student FYP Project Recognized

On May 24, CIVL undergraduate students Yiu Koon Lun and Yik Ho Yeung were named 2nd runners-up at the AGS (HK) Final Year Projects Competition 2017 with their project “Crib-block retaining walls with 3D printing”. The project was supervised by Prof JP Wang.

AGS (the Association of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Specialists) Hong Kong is a professional organization that coordinates the local geotechnical and geoenvironmental communities. AGS (HK) organizes the Final Year Projects Competition annually to recognize excellence in geology, geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering-related research among undergraduates from four local universities. Participants are nominated by each university and are given an invaluable opportunity to present their work.

Yiu and Yik’s project featured important insight on the governing failure mechanisms of crib walls and new design guidance for them. Our heartfelt congratulations to the winners and Prof Wang!
