Prof JS Kuang Honoured with Magazine of Concrete Research Prize

The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), UK, announced last week that Prof. J. S. Kuang has won the Magazine of Concrete Research Prize 2019 with colleagues Drs Hamid Behnam and Simon Wong and Profs Q Huang and R Al-Mahaidi. The award will be presented by the President of ICE at the ICE Awards Ceremony at the ICE Headquarters in London on Friday 4 October 2019.

The Magazine of Concrete Research Prize is presented annually by ICE, which recognises excellence in research on structural concrete and concrete materials. Prof. Kuang and his colleagues receive this Prize for the remarkable innovation and quality in their work on the behaviour and design of wide-beam column connections in reinforced concrete multi-storey buildings.

Prior to receiving the Magazine of Concrete Research Prize 2019, Prof. Kuang has earned numerous prestigious accolades, including the TK Hsieh Award 2006 and the Telford Premium 2014 from the Institution of Civil Engineers, UK, the HKIE Best Transactions Paper Prize, 2007 and 2016, from the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, and the Grand R&D Structural Excellence Award 2017 from the Joint Structural Division founded between the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and the Institution of Structural Engineers, UK.
