Prof Anthony Leung received an award of “International Award for innovation in unsaturated soil mechanics 2018” from (ISSMGE)

Prof. Anthony Leung received the “International Award for innovation in unsaturated soil mechanics 2018” from the Technical Committee 106 (Unsaturated Soils) of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE). The award is to recognize Prof. Leung’s outstanding innovation, scholarship and leadership in the novel development of thermo-active pile rows for enhancing the winter resilience of infrastructure embankment. The innovation has brought in a lot of new and interesting research questions, and hence created opportunities of academic research in different subject areas. There include a few new inventions that have advanced the technological and equipment developments in unsaturated soil testing and centrifuge modelling of unsaturated soil-structure interaction.

The award was presented at the 7th International Conference on Unsaturated Soils (UNSAT2018) hosted in HKUST from 3 – 5th Aug 2018.
