Deepest condolences to the family of Mr Hamed Taheri

It is with deep sorrow that we have just received the sad news of the tragic loss of our PhD student Hamed Taheri in a car accident in Tehran on 29 Sept 2015. Hamed was an excellent student who received an Overseas Research Award from our University and acted as an exchange PhD student, during the period of April to Sept 2015, conducting research at the University of California San Diego. He received his MPhil degree in civil engineering from HKUST and joined our PhD programme in Sept 2012. Hamed was a very pleasant and kind hearted gentleman. We are shocked and saddened. A group of his friends has decided to commemorate him by organising a ceremony on Thursday (October 01, 2015) from 3-5 pm in the Meeting Room 4 (Amenities - LG5).
